Being different from each other and including these differences into our daily lives not only makes us better as people, it also makes us better as a company . Here at BSH, we truly believe that we can only thrive and unleash our full potential, if everyone feels valued and respected as who they are and where they come from and can be their true selves.
This is why we implement diversity, equity and inclusion in every part of our doing:
Find out below , what measures we have taken to ensure this philosophy.
Here at BSH we view the advantages of different perspectives as a driver for innovation and transformation. Therefore, it is not just a part of our philosophy, but something we want to reinforce in every aspect of our daily work. To do so, we have implemented a number of trainings, programs and initiatives. Find out more about them by clicking on a measure of your choice.
Most diversity topics come naturally to us because their application and benefit is always apparent. Others can hide in daily routines, remaining hidden until we expose them. For this reason, we regularly conduct training sessions to sensitize our colleagues to these topics.
One example are “unconscious bias” trainings. Often, our actions and reactions are determined by learned behavior patterns. We favor some people and put others at a disadvantage without even noticing it. “Unconscious bias” trainings help to identify these situations and behave accordingly.
Other trainings involve topics like “intercultural effectiveness” or “female leadership”. Since the topics around diversity, equity and inclusion are fluent, our trainings are always being kept up to date to ensure all employees can stay informed.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are part of our daily work routine here at BSH. But for one week every year, we focus all our activities and communication measures exclusively on the topic to further increase awareness and shine a light on how important diversity, equity and inclusion are in our company.
During the course of the week, workshops, panels and trainings are being held to show how BSH is leveraging diversity and how all employees can benefit from it. External speakers as well as employees get a chance to speak, to participate and share their experiences.
Diversity in terms of generation and age is not only an important topic because of demographic changes in western societies. We also believe that we can learn a lot from each other and that having teams with different generations of employees will be beneficial for every one of them.
This is why we try to promote a constant knowledge transfer between generations by implementing a number of programs into our work. One example is the “reverse mentoring” initiative, where younger employees act as a mentor for digital technologies. In turn, they can profit of the knowledge from more experienced colleagues. Find out more about the program in this blog article .
Important topics like diversity, equity and inclusion cannot be solved by trainings and events alone. We need vast networks to reach and motivate as many people as possible across the globe.
One example for this is our employee network “Colors of BSH” – an internal initiative aimed at the appreciation of our employees regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. With events and other measures, its members raise awareness for their cause. Read the whole story of “Colors of BSH” right here on our blog .
But we are also looking above the borders of our own company. For example, BSH is part of the “Charta der Vielfalt”, a diversity charter that promotes the recognition, appreciation and integration of diversity in business culture. This way, we can join forces with other companies for a more diverse work environment worldwide.
As a global company, diversity, equity and inclusion is lived every single day by all our employees. Find out what they think about the topic.
